Nose: The nose opens with fruity aromas of green apples and juicy pears, accompanied by hints of citrus. Underneath is a subtle malt sweetness reminiscent of honey and oatmeal biscuits.

 

Taste: The first sip reveals a pleasant warmth and a wide range of flavours. Ripe bananas, peaches and sultanas mingle with delicate spice notes of cinnamon and ginger. The oak makes a gentle appearance and gives the whisky a pleasant depth.

 

Finish: The finish is medium long and wonderfully balanced. It brings a slight dryness that is accompanied by fruity notes. A hint of oak and spices gently fades out.

 

Conclusion: The Ben Nevis 2013 from Elixir Distillers is a remarkable whisky with a balanced blend of fruitiness, spice and oak. It is complex and pleasant to drink, and its character develops nicely in the glass.
