Appearance : Deep golden amber with light copper reflections.

Aroma : Spicy and strong, with a distinctive maltiness. Notes of baked apple, caramelized sugar and a subtle smokiness. These are joined by ripe pears, candied ginger and a hint of leather.

Taste: Full-bodied and intense. The character of ripe apples and pears is accompanied by roasted nuts and creamy toffee. An underlying spice of nutmeg and cloves adds depth, while a delicate hint of wood smoke enhances the dramatic impression. With water, floral nuances and a light honey sweetness unfold.

Finish : Long and warming, with oak spice, dry cocoa and a hint of mineral smokiness. Subtle, sweetish malt notes linger in the background.

Verdict : This Craigellachie shows the robust and unmistakable characteristics of the distillery. The cask strength brings power and complexity, while the 16-year maturation ensures harmony and balance. Ideal for connoisseurs who take their time to explore the complexity.
